More from Emma our Heritage Town Planning Consultant daughter – This week she saw this amazing ornate fireplace in a hall in Leicestershire where she was conducting a site visit. Emma saw this fireplace and immediately thought of me and my weekly blog, clever girl. It is certainly a monumental piece of interior architecture and must date back to the Regency Period. I dread to think what it would cost to construct these days, a very definite statement of wealth and standing I feel. I don’t think the Charnwood Island stove looks out of place, a nice juxtaposition of old and contemporary.
